Probably because they felt DPP/BW/B2W2 wasn't making any more money for them [and/or server costs sucked], so they decided to pull plug on it.
Or they have to divert money to fund the X/Y stuff, idk.
No more GTS stuff [and no more Kyohack/Pokedit for those who really needed event Pokes + want to remake stuff in earlier games that couldn't be brought over]
